So after several pretty hard weeks, I did a fairly limited schedule this week. Even though I still did 16-17 miles running and 2000 meter swimming, it was a nice break. The best part was shaving about 3 minutes off my 2000 meter swim time. Since my official Ironman training program begins on April 11 (4 weeks from now), I'm going to continue on a similar schedule but definitely add some biking as it's now staying lighter later and the weather is getting much better.
So for this week:
Monday: 30 minute run.
Tuesday: Swim session.
Wednesday: 55 minute interval run.
Thursday: 2 hour run.
Friday: 15 mile bike ride.
Saturday: 45 minute run.
Sunday: 25 mile bike ride.
Update mid-week.
On August 31, 2010, I entered Ironman Louisville 2011. This was initially the story of my journey to the race, but it will continue to be my place for all things training and tri.

With Friends Like These...
Yes, I've been a slacker this week with regards to my updates. Ran today with my usual running partners and one of them asked us to run near his house in a hilly neighborhood. Wow, 6.5 miles felt like 10-12. Wasn't having a great day to begin with but still survived. I guess it's a good sign when a bad day on some nasty hills still means a 12-13 minute pace (I'm normally a 10 minute pace runner, at least so far). Nice friend, eh? Haha
Also had my second deep tissue muscle massage this week. I don't feel tightness or anything when I walk in there but amazing how much work (and pain) it takes to unlock those muscles. I think I'll keep massages in my regimen and up the frequency as I get closer to race day.
Only about a month until my real official training program begins. It's going to feel weird taking a step back from the intensity I'm used to, at least running wise, but I plan on following it as closely as I can since I know it has been used by many successful Ironmen.
For the week: 18.25 miles run, 3700 meters swimming and some yoga. I think I'm in need of a recovery week so this week will be a little lighter than usual. As always, will get the bike out if conditions permit.

Wednesday: 45 minute run.
